Rally! SmartyPup! 301 class starts September 12!
Rally is a fun and exciting team sport for dogs and their handlers! Training for Rally will help build a bond with your dog that is quite unique. Be careful though - it's addictive! This sport builds teamwork and focus.
What is Rally Obedience: Dog and Handler teams navigate a course with numbered signs indicating different exercises to perform such as Sit-Down-Sit, Straight Figure 8, Heel Finishes and more! Teams navigate the course at a brisk, continuous performance without direction from the judge. Handlers are encouraged to talk to their dogs during the performance. Praise and encouragement are allowed throughout the course as well as food rewards after certain exercises.
Class Description: In this class we will practice getting your dog in proper heel position and walking nicely along side you under minor distractions - while you are having fun! Basic behaviors such as sit, down and stay are incorporated into exercises and then put into place on an outlined course. You'll get an understanding of what APDT Rally-O is all about.
What you will get from this class: You will learn how to dramatically improve your dog's on leash heeling, focus and attention, sit and down stay under minor distractions and most importantly a strong working relationship.
