Our goal is to help you develop the skill set needed to train your puppy, cultivate a true understanding of dog behavior, and strengthen a positive and lasting relationship between you and your pup. SmartyPup! methods are  based on the laws that govern how dogs learn--the principles of learning theory-- operant and classical conditioning—no gimmicks or false promises. Our approach is holistic: the rearing, care, behavioral development and training of puppies.

We know the difference between behaviors  that will fade away as your pup matures, and behaviors that needs attention right now, before they become life long problems. Puppy training should be a positive experience — for you and your pup!

Because the first three months are the period when sociability outweighs fear, this is the primary window of opportunity for puppies to adapt to new people, animals, and experiences. Incomplete or improper socialization during this important time can increase the risk of behavioral problems later in life including fear, avoidance, and/or aggression.
