Tammy Mehmed
With over fourteen years of puppy training experience, Tammy specializes in private training consultations from pre-puppy selection assistance and puppy in-home setup to household manners and basic through advanced obedience training. She is passionate about working with young puppies training them through conditioning and positive reinforcement, while coaching owners on how best to handle difficult situations. Most importantly, she has a keen understanding that dog training isn’t just about the dog, and is able to communicate with and coach the human family, from adults to children, so they can better manage and train their dog as a household friend and companion.
Her experience includes eight years of teaching classes, both as apprentice with Fawn Pierre and then a lead instructor, with Sirius Puppy Training in San Francisco. In addition she volunteered for more than five years in public training classes at the SFSPCA. She works with SmartyPup! teaching Puppy and specialty classes.
Tammy is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and continues to advance her animal training knowledge and skills. Over the years she has studied hands-on with world-renowned animal trainers such as Bob Bailey, Terry Ryan, Kathy Sdao and Ian Dunbar. Her little Cocker Spaniel, Harleigh, now 12 years old, has been in her life since she was 8 weeks of age and is a Canine Good Citizen, a nursing home therapy dog and an assistant instructor in puppy classes. Jester, her four year old Cocker Spaniel, is a Canine Good Citizen and has titles in both APDT Rally and AKC Rally and has just started competing in Agility.
